### Setting the Range on the Scales

In the chart above, the y axes for the yellow and the green series (the sine wave and the XY plot) are staggered on the left, and all of the series overlap in the window. To have the sine and cosine waves displayed in the upper portion of the plotting area, and the XY plot displayed in the lower portion of the plotting area, you will need to force the scales to be flush with the edge of the plotting area, and set the range which is displayed.

Focus on the green series by clicking on the green scales. Then, from the View pulldown menu, select Scales, Axis Range / Span. Set the following ranges: Xleft = -2.0, X Right = 2.0, Y Bottom = -2.0, Y Top = 2.0, X Tic = 0.2, and Y Tic = 1.0. To display the XY plot in the lower half of the window, set the percent span for the y-axis to 50%, and the percent span for the x-axis to 100%. Click the OK button.

Next, click on the yellow scales to focus on the yellow series. To display this in the upper half of the window, select Scales, Axis Range / Span from the View pulldown menu. Set the following ranges: Xleft = 0.0, Xright = 1.0, Y Bottom = -1.5, Y Top = 1.5, X Tic = 0.1, Y Tic = 1.0. Set the x-axis span to 100 % and the y-axis span to 50%. Then, use the mouse to move the yellow series up in the window so that the scales appear in the upper left corner.

Finally, click on the red scales to focus on the red series. Follow the same procedure to place the red series in the upper half of the plotting area.

The functions to set stagger or flush scales are STAGGERX and STAGGERY. The functions to set the span of the tic marks displayed on the scales are SPANX and SPANY.

STRIPCHART automatically handles span and stagger to produce a vertically stacked plot of multiple series that share a common X axis.
